Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

The reason is simple – to prevent sharing of payware content. N3V has a good DRM system in place to prevent sharing of payware content with others on their ‘birthday’.

If someone decides to share via cdp with another user, it’ll still install successfully but it won’t be activated (instead it will show up as modified, payware (in active) until that user purchases that specific DLC and thus, will become active after installing the DLC file.

It was tried with Centrella Sub through the Trainz group NARM to see how it’ll go. Unfortunately, as expected, once someone buys it, it was shared around with Google Drive and because selling through 3rd party doesn’t provide any payware protection, it can be shared around easily that there is no way stopping it.

After that trial, it was decided that all of our content will be N3V exclusively released for a foreseeable future until a protection system for 3rd party content is developed.

No this isn’t possible due to how Steam handles DLC purchasing and authorisation. A detailed explanation this can be seen on the Steam and Trainz Store DLCs Explained page.
Desktop: refers to TANE, TRS19, TRS22, and all newer versions of Trainz for desktop.
Mobile: refers to TS3.
I get this question from time to time and I figured its enough to place it in the FAQ section. To put it simply, I prefer not to host content created by 3rd party creators (especially reskins) as I don’t know if you have permissions to redistribute the said item(s). If you indeed do have permissions to redistribute the said item(s), then you should first attempt at either uploading them to the Trainz Download Station or creating a free website and hosting the content for yourself. Keep in mind that sometimes exceptions can be made but this will be viewed on a case by case.
All route creators need to be interested in the route. All routes that I create has my interest. Routes that a creator isn’t interested in has a very good chance of not being worked on with you. At this time, the answer will be no, I don’t do any route building with other players.
I don’t accept any route commissions but if its an area of interest, then there is a good chance it’ll be created and made available.
Depends but most of the time the answer is going to be no. It is best to buy the program and learn on how to use it. I promise once you get the hang of the program its not that hard 😉
I’m currently looking into this but it’ll be recommended to get TS3 (Trainz Simulator 3) as that’d be the main platform for mobile content releases.
Depends on a lot of things – mostly time, and if the route is worth creating sessions.
Desktop versions requires more development time to add smaller end details to the product (such as weathering, additional scenery details, more background items, etc). Mobile devices can’t handle the higher end details so they are reduced and thus doesn’t require additional development time. At the end these can be offered at a lower price than the desktop versions.

Becoming a DLC Beta Tester

With the release of N3V’s new DLC system, DLCs can be now enter beta testing at a much faster rate than ever before. Instead of having to now wait for N3V to package the content up, the creators of the package can now create their own packages and beta test as much as the creator wishes.

*Each beta testing round lasts for 14 days. After the issues has been resolved, there will be another beta testing round for another 14 days.

**Once a DLC is released, there won’t be anymore future testing happening to the DLC unless an update is required.
