SRS Content Download Issues Report

Hi everyone,

I wanted to let everyone know that I’m aware of the SRS download issues that have been happening about the RAR files not being delivered as expected.

Since the site upgrade happened, all the files that once sat on the server when the HTML versions of the site have been moved over to an actual file hosting provider to A. keep the storage footprint small and B. to reduce bandwidth usage as everyone does this.

So, what am I doing to hopefully resolve this? Its not an easy answer but I’m still looking at a better file provider to handle the downloads that offer a direct link to the file without the need to hope through the file providers webpage itself.
now before I receive suggestions for Google Drive, OneDrive, etc comes, these common types of storage providers won’t be considered as typically, it’s a violation against their EULA to use their services for hosting website content (The sharing feature is only for a limited number of people / family members and that’s it. Some enforce it and others don’t) and I’ve tried them in the past and none have met my requirements.

Now you are wondering, why not place them back on the webserver? Okay I can do that but then A. more space is required, and B. bandwidth usage goes up and I want to make sure that both A and B are kept down as much as possible.

So, what now? For the time being, while I still look around for a file provider, things will remain as-is until I’m able to locate a decent if not better file provider to handle the website download requirements and hopefully deliver the RAR files correctly without the need to download 2, 3, 4 times in a row. Its not an easy task so I do ask for your patience while the search continues.
