We all own Trainz from either the Trainz Store, Steam, or the Mac Store, and sometimes we want to purchase additional DLC content to expand our collection.
There are times however when someone decides to purchase content from a different platform than the platform, they own Trainz because of a cheaper sale price or for another reason.
This page is to explain the different platforms and what requirements are in place, so you don’t hopefully buy on the wrong platform by accident.
Trainz Store:
DLCs purchased from the Trainz Store will work in both the Trainz Store version and the Steam version (upon logging into the game). Trainz Store DLCs in the Steam version will appear as sc:XXX.
This works better as all DLC purchases are tied to your MyTrainz account and all you must do is simply log into your account and you’ll have access to all your purchased DLCs.
Steam:
DLCs purchased from Steam will only work for the Steam version of Trainz and will not work in the Trainz Store version. This is due to Steam’s purchasing system that’s in place.
If you do decide to purchase from Steam, be sure that you also own the Steam version of Trainz or else you won’t receive your purchased DLC.
